Battle On The Bay This Saturday!

This Saturday is the 10th Annual Battle On The Bay Swimming Carnival! Being held on home turf this year, it all kicks off from 3pm, this Saturday afternoon!

As well as all the usual races and relays, we have a few surprises up our sleeves. A very special Drummoyne local / Olympic medallist will join us on pool deck and maybe in the water for a relay if we’re lucky!

The raffle this Saturday will be one of the biggest in Battle on The Bay history with over $2,500 worth of prizes to be won thanks to our sponsors below:

This raffle is not to be missed. Grab your tickets on the day!

As the Carnival is on a Saturday afternoon, we do advise swimmers to get there early to get a park. It will be busy, so please allow ample time.

We are also still looking for volunteers on the day to help with timekeeping and other jobs. If you would like to help contact Tim: president@drummoyneswimclub.com.au or volunteer on the day.

It should be another riveting Battle on the Bay with plenty of medals and prizes on offer! Every swimmer will win points towards the trophy for the fastest Club on the Bay and the fastest swimmers in each age group will fight it out for the prized 10th Anniversary Carnival Medals.

The highlight of the Carnival is always the 4x50m Freestyle relays followed by the exciting 10x50m relay show-down between the fastest swimmers from each Club.

This year we have the home town advantage. Go Drummoyne!

10th Battle on the Bay Swimming Carnival

We’re less than four weeks away from the 2019 Battle on the Bay Swimming Carnival on Saturday 9th March 2019!

It’s Drummoyne Swimming Club’s turn to host the Carnival again this year, which we initiated back in 2010 as a competition between neighbouring swimming clubs located around and nearby the Iron Cove Bay area. The Carnival has been a huge success and is now into its 10th year!

This year Drummoyne will be competing against Ashfield, Enfield and Leichhardt Swimming Clubs to determine the fastest Club on the Bay! Every swimmer will earn valuable points for their Club in the fight for the Battle on the Bay Trophy and the fastest individual swimmers will be awarded Age Group medals. The highlight of the Carnival is always the relay events, culminating in the thrilling 10x50m Freestyle relay between the fastest swimmers in each club.

The Carnival will start promptly at 3pm and finish at 7.30pm on Saturday 9th March 2019. Swim Club will be on as usual in the morning. We will have a BBQ and grand raffle prizes on offer at the Carnival.

Entries are $6 per person. We will be collecting entries and fees on Saturday mornings at the pool, so please bring along cash to pay.

You can choose to race Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly. Under 6’s will race a 20m distance. 7-8 year olds will race 30m in all strokes but, for Freestyle, can choose to race 50m instead of 30m. Everyone else will race a 50m distance in each stroke.

Further information about this year’s Carnival can be found here. We look forward to all of our Club members joining in to help us win the ultimate prize – the Battle on the Bay Trophy!

2019 Battle On The Bay – Save The Date

Every year our club competes in the Battle on the Bay Swimming Carnival against other swimming clubs in the Inner West.

The Battle on the Bay Swimming Carnival is a competition between neighbouring swimming clubs located around and nearby the Iron Cove Bay area. The carnival allows swimmers of all ages and abilities to come together and participate in an afternoon of competitive swimming, mixed with plenty of fun and good sportsmanship. The fastest swimmers in our club will be competing for the Age Group medals, while every swimmer can earn valuable points for their Club by swimming to the best of their ability to win the ultimate prize – the Battle on the Bay trophy!

This year our club will be hosting the carnival down at Drummoyne Pool on Saturday 9 March 2019 between 3pm-7:30pm, after Swim Club in the morning.

We would love to have as many of our members there to help us reclaim the trophy on home turf!

More details to come.
