Agon Swimming Australia have designed a new costume for us and we’re now seeking interest so that we can place a bulk order.
The options are:
Girls / Ladies Thinstrap costume
Boys / Mens swim brief
Boy’s / Mens jammer
We need to order a minimum of 12 x pieces per costume. If we don’t make the minimum quota for any particular style we’ll be in touch to discuss an alternative.
If you are interested please complete the form at the end of this link.
We have samples for checking sizes. They will be available on Saturday’s for the next two weeks.
The Tom Brown trophy was named for Lynette’s grandfather Tom by her father who was the club handicapper in the 1970s. What an amazing connection the Brown family has had with the club and pool! It must be time for a Lynette Brown trophy…
Last year the Tom Brown handicap trophy was taken out by Jude Wilson, one of the many trophies Jude took home last season. Rumour has it that an engineer had to check the structural integrity of the second floor of the Wilson home because of the weight of all the trophies that the Wilson family took home last season…
Jude continues to improve and must be a good shot at back to back trophies. Can anyone beat him to this trophy this summer?
Ladies Social Night
Don’t forget the Ladies Social night is on tomorrow (Thursday). Register via TeamApp to indicate if you are going.
Got to love sunny Saturdays!
Our stretch of sunny Saturdays looks set to continue… Tell your friends how lovely it is as the pool on Saturday mornings and drag them along to join us for a free trial…
First up this week we have a 50m freestyle sprint. This will be closely followed by heats for one of the most highly-prized trophies of the season – the George Wheaton 50m “BBB” Handicap!
BBB is short for Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly. It’s a unique event in which competitors race each other with different “B” strokes in the same race on handicap. So a swimmer in one lane may swim Butterfly, another Breaststroke and a third Backstroke!
Register Now for the BBB
If you haven’t already nominated your “B” stroke please do so asap using this google form.
Following the BBB, our long distance swim will be 400m Freestyle. To qualify for the 400m race, you must have a current 200m time less than 200 seconds (3m 20s).
There are the usual 200m, 4x30m and 4x20m Freestyle options for those of us who haven’t posted a 200 second qualifying time (or haven’t posted one in a while…).

This week swim club starts to get a little bit more serious. We have the heats for the first trophy of the season – the Geoff Roper 200m Freestyle Handicap trophy.
As with any handicap race, the winner could be anyone. Junior swimmers who are improving quickly have an especially good shot at taking home this silverware. So don’t miss the heats this weekend or you’ll be no chance to pick up the trophy!
Next week we will be holding heats for our 2nd trophy race of the season – the wonderful George Wheaton BBB handicap race.
BBB is short for Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly. It’s a unique event in which competitors race each other with different “B” strokes in the same race on handicap. So a swimmer in one lane may swim Butterfly, another Breaststroke and a third Backstroke!
To seed the event, we need to know which “B” stroke you will swim. You must have already completed a 50m Time Trial for your chosen stroke, so if you’re new to the club this season, choose a stroke for which you’ve already set a time.
To nominate your B-stroke please complete this form at the end of this link.
A reminder that Drummoyne Swimming Club hosts free squads for members.
New swimmers are always welcome. We’re particularly seeking to boost our numbers of young adults. So, if this is you feel free to pop down to an adult squad and jump in to lane 1 or 2.
Zoe Romaniuk and Matthew Svoboda are our Club Captains for 2022-2023. Congratulations to them both. It is fitting that they are our new club leaders given that they both scooped the pool as club champions last season.
We look forward to big things from both our new Captains this season.
Thanks very much to Rose Tunstall and Xiomara van Schaik and Tadhg Donnellan for their efforts as Captains last season.
