Completed a free trial? Enjoyed Squads or racing? It’s time to register!

The season is now well underway and we would love all swimmers that have been participating in squads and/or Saturday races to join up as Drummoyne Swimming Club members.

It is important that swimmers are registered members as registration fees help us cover the costs of running the club. More members allows us to keep fees as low as possible.

Season 2023/24 memberships are now available to purchase via the Swim Central portal.

Since last summer there have been changes to the ACTIVE KIDS voucher (dropping from $100 to $50) and increases to Swimming Australia / Swimming NSW fees. So in response we’ve made a few tweaks to our membership structure and fees, namely:

  • We’ve added a junior club swimmer category with a reduced fee to offset the impact of the reduction in the ACTIVE KIDS voucher, and
  • Increased fees on a couple of fee categories to help cover the club’s costs.

Our new Membership Categories and Fees are as follows:

Member CategoryStandard FeeFamily Concession Fee
Club Swimmers*$11015% discount
Club Swimmers 10 years and under at 31/10/2023*$8515% discount
Second Claim Members$8015% discount
Squad Members$8015% discount
State Competition Swimmers$13015% discount
Non-swimmers (Spectator/Supporter)$3515% discount

* Unless you are planning to swim competitively for Drummoyne at Swimming NSW sanctioned events the Club Swimmer category is likely to be the one for you.

Instructions on using the Swim Central portal, read here:

ACTIVE KIDS vouchers can be redeemed when registering your child.

More information is available on the club’s Fees and Registration page.

The George Wheaton BBB heats

BBB is short for Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly. It’s a unique event in which competitors race each other with different “B” strokes in the same race on handicap. So a swimmer in one lane may swim Butterfly, another Breaststroke and a third Backstroke!

To enter the BBB you just need to nominate your stroke using TeamApp. We ask that all swimmers complete their stroke nomination before Friday COB so that the heats can be set up properly.

All going well we hope to have members of the Wheaton family join us on pool deck at the final to present the winner with the trophy.

Check out the George Wheaton BBB page on our website to learn about the story behind this race.

Saturday morning volunteers needed

As we get into the swing of another exciting season of Saturday morning swim meets, we are reaching out to our esteemed community members for some additional support. Our swim meets are an integral part of our club’s vibrant atmosphere, fostering friendly competition and a sense of camaraderie among our young and not so young swimmers. To ensure these events run smoothly and efficiently, we are in need of more volunteers to help officiate and manage various aspects of the meets.

Volunteering at the swim meets is not only a great way to contribute to the success of our club, but it’s also a fantastic opportunity to get involved and connect with fellow members. No prior experience is necessary, as we will provide all the necessary training and guidance to ensure you feel confident in your role. Whether you’re a seasoned swimming enthusiast or simply someone who loves being part of a dynamic community, your support will be immensely valued and appreciated.

Some of the weekly roles we are seeking assistance with include:

Starter – Gerry, our esteemed regular starter, is back again for another year of swim club. Despite looking just old enough to be a dad, Gerry is actually a grandfather. He will likely miss a few weeks here and there with grand parenting duties. Plus we need someone to cover the races that he swims in.

Referee – Being referee is a great job. You get the chance to disqualify peeps that are challenging you in the point score table. Who wouldn’t want to yield that awesome power? More seriously, the role of the referee is to make sure swimmers are starting on handicap times and swimming correctly. It can be rewarding to help kids with racing tips to ensure they don’t get pinged in championship races or other events. Lynette and Phil are our regular Referees and would be happy to train additional members up.

Marshall – Matt O’Connor, our regular Marshall for the last 20+ years, is occupied with other activities this season and will be making guest appearances only. Dave Parker has stepped into the breach but we need some other booming voices to step up and wrangle racers to the starting blocks.

Timekeepers – we generally have no issues with timekeepers and the support of all our members is appreciated. Please just continue to keep an eye and ear out if there is a call for timekeepers during meets.

Photographer – If you are a master with a camera phone this job is for you. We want someone each week to help capture action shots from the races and pool deck. Camera phone supplied. Photos upload directly to our photos drive. No downloading or uploading necessary.

If you are able to help with any of these activities on Saturday mornings, please reach out to Adrian or one of the above-mentioned personnel.

Let’s make this season’s swim meets at Drummoyne Swimming Club the best ones yet!
