Santa Coming To Sleigh On Pool Deck

This week is the final swim club meet of the year!

As with swim club tradition, we will be throwing a free sausage sizzle to rev swimmers back up after their 400m freestyle!

We will also have a special visitor from The North Pole, the jolly red and white gift giver himself, Santa Claus. We got word from Mrs. Claus that he has left the ice mansion and just passed over Alaska last night. 🎅🏻

We hope to see many of our members there for a fun end to the year!

Swimming club will be back on 19 January 2019.

Swimmers Feel The Heat

The sun was out last Saturday morning and our members were excited to cool off with some races!

In the second Championship event of the year, swimmers swam 50m Butterfly with as much power as possible. Congratulations to Andrew Sharpe who took out the mens open heat in what was a very close sprint to the finish. Annette Jamieson took out the open womens heat, smashing it with a lead of over 4 seconds! Congratulations to all who made the final!

We also had the second week of the Over 35s and Under 10s 100m Freestyle Trophy Events. After the second week, Jaxon Lewis and Laura Tambasco lead the Under 10s boys and girls events respectively. There is also stiff competition in the Over 35s with Anthony Burges and Sherri Ollerenshaw in first place for the men’s and women’s events respectively!

We look forward to seeing everyone back down on pool deck this Saturday morning!

2019 Battle On The Bay – Save The Date

Every year our club competes in the Battle on the Bay Swimming Carnival against other swimming clubs in the Inner West.

The Battle on the Bay Swimming Carnival is a competition between neighbouring swimming clubs located around and nearby the Iron Cove Bay area. The carnival allows swimmers of all ages and abilities to come together and participate in an afternoon of competitive swimming, mixed with plenty of fun and good sportsmanship. The fastest swimmers in our club will be competing for the Age Group medals, while every swimmer can earn valuable points for their Club by swimming to the best of their ability to win the ultimate prize – the Battle on the Bay trophy!

This year our club will be hosting the carnival down at Drummoyne Pool on Saturday 9 March 2019 between 3pm-7:30pm, after Swim Club in the morning.

We would love to have as many of our members there to help us reclaim the trophy on home turf!

More details to come.

Sun Shines Down On Another Packed Saturday Morning

It was another fantastic morning last Saturday morning down at Drummoyne Pool.

The day started with the competitive 50m Freestyle Championship heats, with competitors fighting for a spot in the Open Heats. The men’s and women’s Open heats were tight races with William Taylor and Annette Jamieson taking them out respectively. It was just milliseconds between Annette and runner up Gabrielle Perkins! Congratulations to all swimmers!

Womens Open Heat

We also had the anticipated trophy final of the Five Dock Rotary 200m Individual Medley Handicap. It was an arduous final with lane 6 hitting the water after a 60 second handicap. Ultimately, it was Elise Borozan’s race to win as she took out the trophy within a second of runner up Caragh Price. Congratulations to all that made the final!
