Event Information

Where: Drummoyne Swimming Centre

When: Saturday 5 March 2022

What time: 14:00 – 19:30 (warm-up from 13:30)

Why: So Drummoyne Swimming Club can be crowned the greatest swimming club in the universe, ever.

What: 50m freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly, 30m form stroke races for youngsters (7 – 8 years), 20m form stroke races for 6 and under plus 4 × 50m relays and the mega 10 × 50 mega relays.

Fees: $7.00 plus pool entry (pool entry to be paid on the day in the usual fashion).

Volunteers Needed

We will need plenty of volunteer on the day with timekeeping, marshalling and helping with the BBQ. Please put your hand up to help i

Want to keep up with your kids?

Want to stay ahead of your kids, try and catch your kids or just improve your efficiency in the water.

The club is considering organising adult stroke correction squads.

We will need to know how many people are interested and what the preferred day and times might be.

Chicken and Chips Casting Agents (C&C) are looking for confident swimmers to be a part of a beautiful new TV commercial and have contacted us…

Please find below the casting call for any swimmers that may be interested in applying.

C&C are looking for a male swimmer in his 20s-30s and a female swimmer in her 20s-30s. No acting experience required but you must be a confident swimmer and be comfortable filming underwater.

This is a paid campaign for the successful applicants.

Racing this week

This week’s races are:

• 50M Freestyle
• The 50M Backstroke Championship
• 400M Individual Medley

As usual there will be shorter races as well. So, if the 400M Medley sounds daunting there will be an option to do a 200M Medley or a 4 x 30M or 4 x 20M Medley instead.

Great performances last week

There were some great performances last week, including from Brody Manners. Brody stepped up from 20M Freestyle to do his first 30M Freestyle event. Brody completed his 30M Freestyle time trial in style. Well done Brody!

Join the DSC Laps for Life fundraising effort again this year

Last summer the Drummoyne Swimming community got right behind Laps for Life. We raised an extraordinary amount of money for a relatively small social swimming club.

We’re going around again this summer. So, please dig deep and help if you can. 

Why are we supporting Laps for Life? Because suicide is the leading cause of death for young people in Australia? That means that each year, more young people die by suicide than in car accidents or from cancer.

Every dollar you donate to our fundraising page will help ReachOut provide all young people in Australia with the support they need to be happy and well.

Raffle Prizes Wanted

As you know Drummoyne will be hosting the 2022 Battle on the Bay Swimming Carnival on Saturday the 5th of March.

The Battle on the Bay is a fun and competitive swimming carnival between local swimming clubs in the bay area. It’s also a good opportunity for the Club to raise finds to pay for things like upgrades to our timing equipment.

If you know of any local businesses that might be able to donate goods or services for us to raffle off could out please reach out to them and ask the question.

Battle on the Bay provides exposure to over 400 swimmers and their families so it’s a good chance for local businesses to make themselves known to people in the broader area.
