The results for Saturday 8 March 2025, including the 4x50m Individual Medley Championships, have been published here.
It was yet another beautiful day at Drummoyne Pool, where the sun was a bit shy, ducking behind clouds, but thankfully sparing us from any serious soakings. A touch of wind tried to whip up the waves, but nothing could dampen the spirits of our swimmers, young and old, as they plunged into this weekend’s aquatic adventure.
Cracking Records and Reigning Champions
Young Harry Thompson was the talk of the pool on Saturday morning, smashing Denver Pelly’s under-10 record with an astonishing 4x50m Individual Medley time of 3:15.98. Denver, who’s now dabbling in university life, might have to brush up his skills to reclaim this title!
Meanwhile, Hannah Aitken dominated the Fred Congdon 50m Butterfly, gliding past her rivals with the grace of a training dolphin. Granny Douglas’s pride was absolutely beaming from the bleachers!
Showdowns and Sibling Rivalries
The inter-family tussle was alive and well. In the Under 8 Boys 4 x 30m Medley, Alessandro Rapisarda and his cousin Henry Godden fiercely swapped positions, with Alessandro finally finishing first. The Godden household, however, won’t be any less proud of Henry’s impressive runner-up performance.
Handicap Points Galore!
Thomas Pacey remains untouchable atop the Senior Men’s Handicap leaderboard, while Jenny Gaskin squeezed ahead in the women’s division with a mere point lead. Stay tuned, folks, it’s tight!
In the younger circuit, it’s a barn-burner as Elizabeth Allan continues her commanding lead in the Under 16 Girls, while the Under 10 boys see Harry Finn carving through like a speedboat. Meanwhile, Rex Wilson, known for being a ‘pocket rocket,’ might need to keep a close eye on Arden Hartley who seems intent on rocketing past in the Under 12 Boys!
New Faces and Familiar Friends
Happy birthday to Xavier Foster and Frances Christodoulou! Frances, formerly our club champ, is apparently back to the pool, promising a comeback worthy of a Rocky sequel!
A warm welcome to our newest club members, the likes of Elysha Fazzalaro and Hugo Beresford-Harvey! We can’t wait to see you stir up the waters soon. Just remember, it’s all fun, games, and a few wobbly dive tumbles until someone touches the wall first!
Indeed, another fantastic splash day invitation to the good vibes by our community’s best, proving once again that we’re more than just a swimming club; we’re a family of finned friends, creating remarkable memories right here in the heart of Drummoyne. Keep those goggles handy and see you next Saturday!
