The results for Saturday 22 February 2025, including the 200m Freestyle Championships, have been published here.
It was yet another beautiful day at Drummoyne Pool, with the sun shining brightly and a bit of a breeze to keep things interesting! π
Highlights & Splashy Affairs
This week’s meet was jam-packed with action as we hosted the 200m Freestyle Championships. Our young gun, Harry Thompson, set the pool on fire with a new club record in the U10 Boys 200m freestyle! Even Denver Pelly‘s 2016 record took a backstroke to Harry’s speed. πββοΈπ
Tom Williams 50m Freestyle Trophy
- In the Women’s Final, Heidi Chalker proved that a casual “stroll” across the water in 54.18 seconds was enough to claim the top spot! Meanwhile, Elizabeth Allan laughed her way to second place, asking everyone why her handicap isn’t as good as her jokes. π
- The Men’s Final was a nail-biter, with Max Thompson gripping the lead, while Alessandro Rapisarda hot on his heels broke his recent best time!
Budding Rivalries and Family Feuds
The pace was fierce between the Pacey and Thompson families, with Thomas Pacey winking as if to say, “Catch me if you can,” while Edward Pacey cheered his dad on from dry land. The Christodoulou siblings Frances and Adam brought the heat with slick swims β perhaps motivated by nothing more than sheer sibling rivalry. π₯
Perpetual Trophy Hangouts
Fred Congdon 50m Butterfly heats were all the buzz, with Hannah Aitken emerging as the supreme butterfly queen, surpassing her past best time β surely, goodness is in her gill-bearing genes! π¦
Newcomers & Club Veterans
Welcome to our new faces, Ella Peake and Max Thompson β they came, they swam, they conquered the complete delight of being part of the DASC family. Meanwhile, legends like Phil Hayward enjoyed a comfy seat this Saturday, aging like fine wine, reminiscing about his glory days. π·
Birthday Cheers!
π It’s also congrats to Gerry Tibbertsma, our seasoned “Old Dutch fox,” who stayed dry this weekend but celebrated his birthday yesterday! π
Closing Notes
A huge shoutout to young heartbreaker Harry Thompson for his record-busting performance and all fellow swimmers who’ve pushed the lane ropes in pursuit of their personal bests.
Well done to everyone for making another Saturday morning fun, fresh, and full of splashes. Keep it up; we’ll see everyone next week for another dose of aquatic antics!
