Results Week 14

The results for Saturday 1 February 2025, including the 100m Butterfly Championships and Week 4 of the 100m Freestyle Special Events, have been published here.

It was yet another beautiful day at Drummoyne Pool, with the partly cloudy skies and those cheeky easterly breezes giving us a bit of cover and a friendly nudge along the lanes!

Let’s dive into the action from our Saturday swim-a-thon with plenty of our homegrown talent hitting the headlines! Congratulations to Fergus Beresford-Harvey who led the charge in the under 14 boys 100m Butterfly, leaving the rest of the pack in his wake. Equally impressive was young Jaxon Lewis, who sliced seconds off his recent best, outpacing the competition in the under-16 boys’ dash (let’s not mention he got overloaded in the Open’s and crawled out DNS – Dead Not Swimming – sorry, Jaxon, had to be said!).

Elizabeth Allan was toggled so fast in the under-16 girls and open women’s categories, she’s now earned herself the title of Cross-Category Butterfly Queen! She’s not the only butterfly in the Pacey family’s bonnet though—Dad, Thomas, flew his way to top standing in the Senior Men’s titles as well. Meanwhile, William Taylor was clocking some serious wing drag in the Open Men’s, showing the younger crop how it’s done, while keeping competition within the family high.

In the Handicap Point Score series, Thomas Pacey continues to lead the Seniors Men’s domain. If you’re not careful Thomas, we’ll start calling the leaderboards the Pacey Legacy! Frances Christodoulou is keeping her place at the top for Seniors Women, with plenty of heat from Sally Kudrna and Cath Thompson nipping at her heels.

Handicap highlights saw Hannah Aitken continuing to show impressive progress in the ‘Molly Wark 100m Freestyle Handicap’ event, with Bronte Manners making a strong statement, netting solid times in the under 10 girls categories. Special mention to Saskia’s stupendous splash in the pool saw her fish out extra points in the Under 6 free—don’t stop pushing!

Also, we can’t ignore our Own Dutch Foxer, Gerry Tibbertsma, formerly fancy-footed, who’s now ramping back to race-winning form with his sprightly endeavours. He must have passed a bit of that foxy spirit to rival Duncan Lyon, who’s returned to form after shoulder-fixing antics.

No Drummoyne report would be complete without a nod to our newbies! A warm welcome to the fresh faces splashing about, like Cath Thompson’s stellar kids—who are making waves of their own.

Back next week, where the sky promises sunshine and swimmers guarantee speed – until then, stay hydrated and keep the freestyle flowing!
