It was great to have some warm sunny weather last week. This week we have a special event with the Mayor’s Canada Bay Cup relay. We’ll be welcoming Mayor Michael Megna to swim club and pitting Canada Bay’s suburbs against each other to see which suburb has the fastest swimmers. The race will be a handicapped relay – 50M (so you’ll need a 50M handicap to compete). If you haven’t already registered for the relay check out the post about this or the Team App news item for more details.
This week our races are:
- 50M Freestyle
- Canada Bay Cup Relay
- 50M Butterfly
- 200M Medley
For anyone who wants to look ahead, the weekly racing calendar is available here.
Club Captains
This Saturday our junior swimmers will be voting for Club Captains for the 2024/25 season. Club Captains are a fundamental part of the Club and valued by all members.
The key responsibilities of the Club Captains include:
Attendance – Regular attendance every Saturday.
Assistance – Regularly assists to help run races every Saturday morning. Arrives on time to help set up and stays to help pack up.
Role model – Acts responsibly and is a role model for all DSC Juniors.
Battle on the Bay (BOB) – Assists in all facets of BOB including organising juniors in their heats and relays. Masters of the cheerleading.
Thanks very much to Denver Pelly and Hanna Svoboda who were our Club Captains for last season.
New Swimmers
Don’t forget to tell your friends about our 4 week try before you buy free trial. If you know anyone that is interested in swimming but not sure if they want to commit without trying it out let them know they can come along to 4 weeks of swim club before they have to sign up.
New swimmers will just need to sign up to our TeamApp portal so we have enough details to enter them into races…
All swimmers and TeamApp
All swimmers need to sign-up to our TeamApp portal and enter races to participate in Saturday racing.
Instructions on how to do this are available on our website. If you have any queries about this process please reach out to Adrian on 0424 561 831.
Swim Central Registration
Formal swim club registrations are open. You can formally register by heading to Swim Central.

Recap on the weekly schedule…
For our new swimmers (and to recap for old hands) the weekly racing order is
Race Order: | |
---|---|
1st Event | Short Distance Freestyle (50M or 100M) Where the programme shows a 100m race we also run 50M, 30M and 20M races for those who don’t want to do the 100M. |
2nd Event | Form Stroke (Breaststroke, Backstroke or Butterfly) Where the programme shows a 100m race we also run 50M, 30M and 20M races for those who don’t want to do the 100M. (But who wouldn’t want to do 100M Butterfly?) |
3rd Event | Long Distance event (200M or 400M Freestyle or Medley) As with the short form events, we run 4 x 30M and 4 x 20M long distance events each week as well. |
Later in the season we’ll throw Championship races into the mix. With those races there are no handicaps, it’s a straight shootout to see who is fastest!
