Canada Bay Cup – this Saturday 27 Nov 21

Register Now for the Canada Bay Cup

Election campaigning schedule permitting, our Club Patron, Mayor Angelo Tsirekas, will join us for the Canada Bay Cup this coming Saturday. This will be the second time we’ve run this relay and we’re hoping a team from within the LGA will take out the trophy this season.

The “Canada Bay Cup” is a race in which residents of the various suburbs in the Canada Bay LGA will square off against each other to see which is the fastest suburb. This relay race will be held on Saturday the 27th of November 2021 at Swim Club. The format is a mixed handicap relay. The number of participants will be determined from the entries received. We’ll also field a relay team of swimmers from outside of the LGA.

To enter the Canada Bay Cup please enter your name and suburb using this link.

Club Patron Mayor Angelo Tsirekas has been associated with the the Drummoyne Swimming Club for a very long time. He’s also a keen water polo player (Drummoyne Devil of course).

In this picture, which was found in our recent working bee, Angelo is posing with the Drummoyne Swimming Club relay team that competed at a carnival at Homebush.

The DSC men’s 10 x 50m relay team at Homebush in the early 2000s. Mayor Angelo is third from the right. Standing next to him is Doug McFarlane – who no longer attends Saturday race meets but is still the fastest squad swimmer at the adult squads.
