Club Captain Nominations

This Saturday we will be asking for nominations for Male and Female Club Captains aged 16 or over (to early 20’s). Our junior Club members will vote for their preferred captains next week.

Club Captains play an important role in running the Club and your valuable contribution will make a well-respected addition to your CV when applying for a job.

The main responsibilities of the Club Captains include:

Attendance – Regular attendance at Swim Club every Saturday.
Assistance – Regularly assist in running Club meets every Saturday morning, including availability of timekeepers. Arrive early to help set up and pack up at the end. Help organise the end-of-season Presentation Awards night.
Role Model – Acts responsibly and is a role model for all junior Club members.
Battle on the Bay (BOB) – Assist in all facets of the annual BOB Swimming Carnival, including organising juniors in their heats and relays. Masters of the cheerleading.

Good luck to all of the nominees!

Junior Technicians Wanted!

Our Club operates with the valuable help of its volunteers, such as timekeepers, marshals and referees. One role that’s essential to the smooth running of the Club is that of the computer operators in our Club room, who sign-in members, schedule race starts and process the results that are published on our web site every week.

In recognition of the importance of this role, the Club has created a “Junior Technician” programme in which junior members (Year 6 and above) are trained up to run the computers on Saturday mornings, to ensure the smooth running of Club meets. Successful candidates are paid for their time on Saturday mornings and can still participate in races, between computer duties.

Key skills and competencies for the Junior Technician role are:

  • Proficient with computers and technology, particularly
    Microsoft Windows and Office applications
  • Attention to detail (we need our results to be accurate!)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (things will go wrong and you need to piece together different pieces of information to resolve them)
  • Ability to work calmly, independently and effectively under pressure
  • Excellent customer service approach and strong communication skills

If any juniors (Year 6 and above) would like to learn more about, and train up for, the Junior Technician role, please contact our President Tim Doolan on president@drummoyneswimclub.com.au or mobile 0418 969591.

Junior Swim Squads

The popularity of Junior Squads is growing fast! We had 15 attendees last Tuesday. Lynette, Sarah and Maddie are doing an awesome job. Phil will be very pleased when he returns from his swim around Greece!

Reminder: Junior squads are run every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 6am-7am in lanes 1 & 2 at Drummoyne Swimming Pool.  Junior squads are free for our junior members (6yo upwards including parents) with your swim club membership. It’s a great way for juniors and adults wanting to learn and improve their swimming.

Active Kids Vouchers

Drummoyne Swimming Club is registered to accept NSW Government Active Kids vouchers to pay for Club membership fees. However, the Swim Central system does not recognise these vouchers, so you will need to pay your membership fees directly then supply us with your voucher code for us to reimburse you. We are only allowed to reimburse you up to the value of your Club fees.

Please send your Active Kids voucher details to our Club Registrar, Michael Donnellan, at registrar@drummoyneswimclub.com.au. The Club will claim the vouchers on your behalf and reimburse you once the funds have been received.

Urgent Fee Payments!

It has been a complex exercise to transition to the new membership system and it would be greatly appreciated if members will join up and pay fees as soon as possible so that the Club has operating funds for the season. After a short grace period we will be imposing penalties for late payments, which may include the removal of Club points!

If you get stuck or have any queries about memberships, please contact our Registrar, Michael Donnellan at registrar@drummoyneswimclub.com.au or mobile 0422 453 322.
