Missed races means loss of Club points!

The carnival will run from 3pm to 7.30pm, with events run in the following order, by gender and age group:

  • Freestyle (50m, 30m, 20m)
  • Butterfly (50m, 30m, 20m)
  • Backstroke (50m, 30m, 20m)
  • Breaststroke (50m, 30m, 20m)
  • 4x50m relays (50m, 30m, 20m)
  • 10x50m relay (50m, 30m, 20m)

Everyone who enters and swims in a race will win points for the Club. The higher you finish in your event, the more points you will earn!

However, if you enter a race but DO NOT SWIM, you will LOSE points for the Club!! So it’s important that you are available to swim every race that you enter. In the past, we have lost the carnival because we’ve had so many empty Drummoyne lanes, which is very disappointing for the other Club swimmers who have participated.

If you plan to leave the carnival early (before 7.30pm) or expect to arrive late (after 3pm) then please DO NOT ENTER events that you are likely to miss. For example, if you don’t expect to arrive until 4pm, then please don’t enter the Freestyle or Butterfly events as you will likely miss your races and lose points for the Club.

Week 14: Backstroke Championship plus you won’t want to miss the 400m Individual Medley!

Well I hope you didn’t melt on Australia Day! After a short reprieve, it looks to be heating up again for Saturday, although we might be in for a damp morning.

The morning will start off with the 50m Backstroke Championship events as our form stroke.

Following the Championships, our sprint event is the 50m Freestyle.

Finally our distance event is the 400m Individual Medley (plus shorter medley races for those who want to do them).

Congratulations to our George Russell 400m Handicap Final Winner and our Bill Gallie 50m Breaststroke Finalists

Congratulations to Lukas Taylor for taking out the George Russell 400m Freestyle Handicap trophy race last weekend. Lukas continues the tradition set by his older brothers and add the Taylor family name to another trophy. Let’s see if Lukas can back it up with the 400m Championship race next month.

Congratulations also to those that qualified for the Bill Gallie 50m Breaststroke Handicap Final. You’ve got a few weeks to continue your breaststroke training – with the final set for Feb 13.

Good luck at school, kids!

Best of luck for the first days back at school to those swimmers who start this week.

New DSC Swim Parka and Costume Order – Place your order now!

We’re looking to place an order for Swim Parkas and Delfina Costumes. If you are in the market for one of these products please read on.

Looking for the perfect training coat as we head into the winter months?

Spotz Competition Swimwear offer high quality training coats that are extra long with a fleece lining, ideal for girls, boys, men and women. The extremely warm long jackets feature double safety zips at top and bottom and a drawstring hood to trap warmth.

The jackets will come embroided with the club logo on the back. Jackets come in a range of sizes from small to extra large (there is a size guide available at https://www.sportzswimwear.com.au/collections/training-coats/products/training-coats?variant=32090522121) and cost will be $105 inclusive of the embroidery and shipping.

A sample coat (minus the club logo) will be available to view at a merchandise table above the main grand stand this weekend.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest to proceed with ordering (we require a minimum of 12 orders).

If you are interested in ordering a jacket email enquiries@drummoyneswimclub.com.au. If we don’t make the minimum order number we’ll be in touch to let you know.

Delfina Costume Order

We’re also looking to place an order with our costume supplier Delfina and need to confirm order numbers for costumes.

The options are:
– Boys / Mens swim brief ($45)
– Boy’s / Mens jammer ($50)
– Girls / Ladies Open Back costume ($65)

To place your order click here.

A few things to note:

We need to order a minimum of 5 x pieces per costume. If we don’t make the minimum quota for any particular style we’ll be in touch to discuss an alternative.

Be sure to check out the size guide before making your selection as we are placing a special order and returns to Delfina will not be possible. We’ll try and arrange to on sell the garment to another club member if possible.

Note that experience from our first order suggests that sizing is on the small side (ladies costumes in particular). So go for a bigger size if you’re not sure. For certainty, talk to a club member who has a costume about sizing or check out the stock that we hold at a Saturday race.

Payments for swim parkas and costumes

Payments must be made via EFT or by Credit Card or cash at Swimming Club.

EFT details are:
Account Name: Drummoyne Amateur Swimming Club
BSB: 732-182
Acc No: 070 045

Please add a reference: “[Surname] Costume Order”.
